My name is Gary Dixon and I am the Junior Organiser at South Cliff Golf Club. Together with other volunteers from the Club we are entrusted to develop the Junior section and continue the good work of our attached PGA Professional Ivan Oliver.
Last year the Club entered GolfSixes League playing local clubs Scarborough North Cliff and Whitby and in doing so, we helped to make 2024 the most successful GolfSixes league season ever!
Here are some headline figures –
127 leagues, 738 clubs and over 9179 players took part across the UK
90% of juniors would like to play MORE GOLF as a result of taking part in the league.
25% was the average number of girls in a GolfSixes league squad
86% of parents felt GolfSixes was both excellent and good value.
Fantastic news – I’m thrilled to report that Scarborough South Cliff Golf Club has officially been awarded Junior Hub Club status.
This recognition by England Golf and the Golf Foundation celebrates the clubs dedication to growing the game of golf and creating an inspiring environment for young golfers.
Becoming a Junior Hub Club comes with a range of special benefits including –
– ongoing support from a dedicated England Golf Club and County Support Officer and Golf Foundation Regional Development Officer
– access to expert guidance and resources to help build a strong, sustainable pathway for young golfers
– promotion of our club on both the England Golf and Golf Foundation websites
– connections with local schools and community groups helping to introduce even more young people to golf
